Hua Hin is a seaside resort located about three hours’ drive north of Bangkok. A popular weekend getaway for Bangkokians, Hua Hin has all manner of accommodation ranging from inexpensive guest houses to budget hotels, 5-star hotels, and exclusive all-villa resorts.

Amazing Thailand
Thailand’s oldest beach resort, Hua Hin was discovered in the early 1920s by King Prajadhipo.
The monarch liked the sleepy fishing village so much that he decided to have an open-air palace built on the beach.
Soon other members of Thailand’s Royal Family as well as Thai nobility and the country’s upper classes were following suit.
Hua Hin became the place to see and be seen. The rest, as the saying goes, is history.
But if Hua Hin is Thailand’s oldest beach resort, it is not like any of the others. It has pedigree.
Because of the royal connection, the town is undeniably laid back, without the high-octane energy you will find in such Thai beach resorts as Koh Samui, Krabi, Patong, or Pattaya.
And yet, despite the town’s royal pedigree, staying there does not have to break the bank!
Hua Hin Accommodation Options
Where to stay in Hua Hin, Thailand – Hua Hin hotels, all-villa resorts, best time to book hotel rooms, how to get to Hua Hin.
All of the hotels on the list have at least one swimming pool – some have multiple swimming pools. One hotel, in fact, has five swimming pools targeted at different age groups!
All of the hotels have at least one food and beverage outlet. Most of the hotels have several outlets. One of the hotels has fully four restaurants and four bars!
In terms of location, most of the hotels are directly on the beach. Some of the hotels have exclusive access to a private beach.
The hotels that are not directly on the beach, however, are all within a five minute walk of the beach.
When it comes to facilities, most of the hotels have their own spas and fitness rooms.
A couple of the hotels have additional facilities such as a jogging track, a tennis court, a squash court, a water sports centre, and a cooking school.
Generally speaking, the larger the hotel, the more the facilities it can offer.
So you’ve got to decide which is more important to you: the facilities and activities that only a large resort can offer – or the intimacy, privacy, and personalized service that only a boutique hotel with a high staff-to-guest ratio is capable of providing.
And dog and cat lovers take note: one of the hotels accepts pets that weigh under 10 kilograms!
All of the hotels and resorts on this list are full-service properties. I have not included any hostels or guest houses.

How to Get to Your Hotel
Hua Hin is 144 kilometres or 90 miles from Bangkok, and the drive takes between two-and-one-half and three hours.
The drive from Suvarnabhumpi International Airport takes even longer – sometimes more than four hours if traffic is heavy.
Other than driving to your Hua Hin hotel, you can take the bus, go by train, or – if you’ve got deep enough pockets – you can even charter a plane!
While Hua Hin does have an airport, there are not currently any scheduled flights.
If you’re traveling to a hotel in Hua Hin from overseas, you might want to consider arranging a Private Airport Transfer to your Hua Hin Hotel from either one of Bangkok’s two airports.
If you do, someone will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall with your name written on a sign.
You will be escorted to an air-conditioned car or van and driven from the airport to your hotel in Hua Hin.
This is not the cheapest option, but it would certainly be the least complicated and the most comfortable.
And if two or three of you are traveling together, it would probably make the most sense.
