L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon in Hong Kong and Don Alfonso 1890 in Macau are the only two restaurants in Asia to have received the Grand Award, the highest level of achievement in the Wine Spectator’s Restaurant Wine List Awards 2010.
This award is given to restaurants demonstrating “an uncompromising, passionate devotion to the quality of their wine program[me].” They generally have at least 1,500 wines on offer with a “serious breadth of top producers, outstanding depth in mature vintages, a selection of large-format bottles, excellent harmony with the menu and superior organization, presentation and wine service.”
Seventy-five restaurants in the United States and 60 other countries received this honour. Seven were singled out for special recognition, two of which were in China's Pearl River Delta.
