The Miami Marlins are a professional baseball team in the United States. And the Marlins compete in the East Division of the National League (NL) of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Florida/Miami Marlins Team History

The Marlins were established in 1993 as an expansion team. Originally, they called themselves the Florida Marlins. But they changed their name to the Miami Marlins  in 2012.

Although the Marlins have never won an East Division title, they won a wild card berth three times. And two times, they went on to win the NL pennant.

Most importantly, both times they went on to win a World Series title. In fact, they are the only MLB team to win the World Series as a wild card team!

So how did the team get its name? In fact, there had been two previous minor league baseball teams that had called themselves the Marlins.

To clarify, the Miami Marlins played in the International League from 1956 to 1960. And another Miami Marlins team played in the Florida State League from 1982 to 1988.

Marlins feature an elongated, spearlike upper jaw. And they are highly valued as game fish.

The Miami Marlins play home games at LoanDepot Park in Miami, Florida. And it has a retractable roof.

Originally, the stadium was called Marlins Park. But it changed its name to LoanDepot Park in 2020.

Regarding food and beverage, the park has numerous F&B outlets on the promenade, legends, and vista levels.

Perhaps, the most unique venue is Clevelander, which is a stylish nightclub. In addition to a bar, the club has a pool. And there is live music after the game ends.

The park is located on the former site of the Orange Bowl. In fact, is located at 501 Marlins Way, in the heart of Little Havana. And it is less than two miles from downtown Miami.
