Haikou Meilan International Airport is an international gateway serving Haikou, the capital of Hainan province in Southeastern China. It is the largest and busiest air field in Hainan and the 17th busiest airport in China.

Haikou Mei Lan International Airport is served by more than 30 Chinese airlines, which fly to dozens of domestic travel destinations as well as other cities in Greater China: Hong Kong, Macau, and Taipei.
Beijing Capital Airlines and Hainan Airlines also fly to several regional travel destinations in East and Southeast Asia as well as Perth and Sydney, Australia.
The following foreign air carriers serve Haikou Airport: Asiana Airlines (Korea), Cathay Dragon (Hong Kong), China Airlines (Taiwan), Far Eastern Air Transport (Taiwan), Hongkong Airlines, Jetstar Asia (Singapore), Malaysia Airlines, t’way Air (Korea), and Tiger Air (Singapore).
Haikou International Airport is a hub for Hainan Airlines and Tianjin Airlines.

Haikou Meilan International Airport has two terminals, one for domestic flights and one for international flights.
The airport has numerous food and beverage outlets including hamburger stands, coffee houses, noodle shops, and ice cream shops – the list goes on.
There are also boutiques selling everything from books to fruit, gifts, jewelry, travel accessories, garments, and other items.

The airport has ATMs and foreign exchange counters. Keep in mind, however, that exchange rates are generally more favourable in town than at airports.
Ground Transportation
Haikou International Airport is served by airport buses, taxis, and high-speed rail.
- Buses – Airport buses run between the Civil Aviation Hotel Station and the airport, making several stops along the way. Buses run every 30 minutes from 5:30 am to 9 pm.
- Taxis – The taxi rank is located opposite Gate 3 of the arrivals hall on the first floor. Passengers are advised to take licensed taxis only and insist that drivers use their metres. Ask for a receipt when you arrive at your hotel.
- Railway – A high-speed railway operates between Haikou and Sanya, with 13 intermediate stops along the way. It travels along the island’s Eastern corridor. There is direct access from the airport to the railway station through Gate 2 of the arrival and departure halls.
