Hong Kong: 30,000 Art Lovers Expected at Fine Art Asia

As Hong Kong’s art season revs into high gear, 30,000 art collectors, curators, dealers, and connoisseurs are in town to attend the 10th Annual Art Fair Asia at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The 10th Annual Fine Art Asia runs from Sunday 4 October to Wednesday 7 October at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wanchai on Hong Kong Island. A Private Preview and Vernissage was held on Saturday 3 October.

Organized by Art and Antique International Fair Ltd, the fair will attract more than 30,000 art collectors, dealers, curators, and connoisseurs from throughout Asia and around the world.

More than 6,500 museum quality pieces valued at more than HK$2.8 billion (US$36 million) from 100 world-famous art galleries will be on display at the 8,000-square-metre exhibition space.

Highlights will include …

15th/early 16th century Tibeto-Chinese thangka of Arhat Cudapanthaka, exhibited by Rossi and Rossi, London/Hong Kong (HK$7,800,000);

  • Impressionist painting by Claude Monet, “Près de Dieppe, Reflets sur la Mer” presented by Trinity House Paintings, London and New York (HK$52,000,000);
  • Huanghuali canopy bed from the early Qing Dynasty, 17th century, shown by Ever Arts Gallery, Hong Kong (HK$10,000,000);
  • Pair of silver Victorian wine coolers, London, 1849, exhibited by Koopman Rare Art (HK$3,300,000); and
  • Iconic bronze sculpture by Auguste Rodin, “The Thinker”, presented by Bowman Sculpture, London (HK$21,700,000).
