The Arrival …

I took Amtrak from San Jose to Sacramento. The trip took about three hours.
Upon arrival at the Sacramento Valley Train Station, I took Uber to the hotel. Unfortunately, I didn’t know about the hotel’s complimentary shuttle, which would have saved me about US$13.
The Lobby …

The hotel had an informal lobby with a circular seating area and a computer and a printer so guests could print out boarding passes.
Food and Beverage Outlet …

The Bistro – Courtyard by Marriott Sacramento Cal Expo has an informal eatery called The Bistro.
Opening onto the hotel’s lobby, the restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Cocktails are also offered.
The restaurant offers both counter and table service.
Snacks and beverages are for sale in the lobby.
The Welcome …

When I arrived in my room, there was a welcome kit from Visit Sacramento, which helped organize my stay in the California capital.
Included were one full bottle and two half bottles of locally produced wine, some snacks, a dining out voucher, a VISA voucher, and family admission to the museum of my choice.
Visit Sacramento also arranged an Underground of Old Sacramento offered by the Sacramento History Museum.
My Room …

I stayed in room 333 on the third floor of the hotel. My room had a comfortable queen’s size bed.

There was a comfortable circular sofa, which could seat two.
There was a movable table, which could hold snacks and beverages. It faced the flat screen television.
The sofa had a pull-out function to create a second bed.

My work station had a table on wheels, which could be pulled out into the room.

The work station gave me plenty of room to spread out my reference materials.

There was a CV1 coffee maker, which has seemed to be standard across the three and four star hotels I have stayed at on my trip.
There were three packets of Seattle’s Best Coffee, which I’ve found to be a bit weak.
The Swimming Pool …

There was a small swimming pool. Because of its regular shape, I found it perfectly fine for doing laps in.
The swimming pool is open from 6 am to 10 pm.

There was a Jacuzzi with warm water next to the swimming pool.
The Fitness Room …

The fitness room had several cardio-vascular machines, including elliptical, stationary bicycles, and treadmills,.

The fitness room also has dumbbells and two resistance training machines – one for the upper body, and one for the lower body.
The Shuttle …

There was a complimentary shuttle service operating during weekdays until 6.30 pm within a radius of five miles of the hotel, which was sufficient to take guests as far as downtown Sacramento, Old Sacramento, and the Sacramento Valley Train Station.
The Neighborhood …

The hotel is located on a quiet tree lined street. A strip mall and a CostCo are located about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the hotel.

The Verdict …

I particularly liked work station, with the pull-out table underneath, which allowed a great deal of flexibility for the various needs of different hotel guests.
