What to Wear to MetLife Stadium

new york giants and new york jets caps

How you dress at MetLife Stadium is a highly personal decision. If you are attending a New York Jets game, you might want to wear Green and White.

If you are attending a New York Giants game, you might want to wear Blue, Red, and White.

What if the Jets are playing the Giants? Well, that will depend on your team loyalties!

When it comes to attending a concert, that will depend on the nature of the event. Generally speaking, the dress code at MetLife Stadium is casual and comfortable. But the weather and the nature of the event should be taken into consideration.

Here are some general guidelines for attending a football game or a concert at MetLife Stadium:

  • Winter (December to February): Dress warmly and with layers. And that should including a heavy coat, gloves, a hat, and a scarf. It can get very cold in Northern New Jersey in the winter, especially in the evening!
  • Spring (March to May): You should still wear layers, but not as heavy as in winter. A light jacket or sweater should be enough.
  • Summer (June to August): Light clothing is best. Shorts, T shirts, and comfortable shoes are ideal. Don’t forget sunscreen!
  • Fall (September to November): It’s football season! This is the time to show your colors with a light jacket or sweatshirt, adding layers as the season progresses.

If you’re going to attend the game, make sure to dress the part.

10 Replies to “Hotels Near MetLife Stadium – Where to Stay for Football Fans and Concert Goers”

  1. Great tip on the stadium shuttles, which would make transport so much easier especially when trying to get back to the hotel after a busy game.

  2. The hotel and shuttle information you’ve put together in one place will come in handy for sports fans. It was thoughtful of you to include nearby attractions for the non-sports fans, as well as a reminder about the requirement for a clear bag to get into the stadium!

    1. When I did my key word research, one of the long-tail keywords I turned up was for hotels with a shuttle to the stadium. So I had to search for a hotel that offered that. When I asked AI about what types of information visiting sports fans would need, it suggested bag policies, nearby attractions, and the weather. So that led to more research.

  3. I knew that both of these teams liked to tailgate and they did it at MetLife but I had no idea where. As a sports fan, I really like and appreciate your site’s focus. I think it’s a genius idea and truly helpful to a whole community with a love for sports travel!

    1. So glad you like the focus of my blog. It all started with a Top 10 Oakland Raiders Sports Bars post. It proved so popular, I decided to branch out to other NFL teams and eventually to other sports, as well.

  4. I read in your comment that you use AI for research too (not only for illustrations :)). Could you describe your process, and how do you get to confirm that the served information makes sense, and is not an AI hallucination?
Otherwise, the guide is surely incredibly helpful for anyone planning a trip to MetLife Stadium!

    1. Great question! Generally, I use it to expand on story ideas. For example for this post, I already knew that I would give some information about the stadium followed by a list of hotels nearest to it and the airports nearest to it. I did NOT ask it which hotels to list. I did that with my own independent research. So I asked AI what other types of information visiting sports fans would be interested in. It suggested the weather, attractions near the stadium, if there were dress codes, what to wear to the stadium, and the stadium’s bag policy. I’ve found that a significant amount of the information I get from AI is not accurate or out-of-date, so things need to be fact-checked. BTW. Bing Chat Copilot usually attaches footnotes, so you can click on them to check sources. Otherwise, I just use do my own fact-checking using google.
