70 Days Across America

C’est La Vie Restaurant is a California-style French restaurant overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Laguna Beach, California. The menu runs from burgers, salads, and crepes to seafood, French specialties, and pasta. And it overlooks the beach.

Why I’m Here …

So what am I doing in Laguna Beach?

Laguna Beach is a seaside resort in Orange County, California. Starting out as an artist’s colony, it has a dramatic landscape, a long stretch of beach, quaint architecture, and a mild climate.

In fact, the town’s main drag is lined with boutiques, art galleries, antique shops, cafes, and wine bars.

According to the 2010 census, the town had a population of 22,723. And it is about 51 miles (82 kilometers) southeast of Los Angeles.

More importantly, Laguna Beach is the fourth stop on the Southern California leg of my epic trip, 70 Days Across America. In fact, it is the final stop on my trip.

My previous stops included San FranciscoLos AltosNapa ValleyConcord, Oakland. Santa Cruz, Sacramento, and Berkeley in Northern California.

These were followed by stops in San Antonio, Texas; and Albuquerque, Los Alamos, and Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The Southern California leg of my trip included stops in Corona, Buena Vista, and Long Beach.

My Thanksgiving dinner at C’est La Vie was absolutely delicious.

First, there was a smoked salmon and cream cheese starter. Next came a mouth-watering pumpkin soup.

Then there was generous serving of turkey with all the trimming. Finally, we could choose from an enticing selection of decadent French desserts. And the choice was very difficult to make!

In fact, my Thanksgiving dinner was the perfect conclusion to a near perfect trip.

Laguna Woods

I had spent the last few days of my trip staying with a close friend that lived in Laguna Woods, a retirement community near Laguna Beach.

In fact, we had spent the final days of my epic journey reminiscing about travel adventures, discussing the future, going for long walks, and exploring Laguna Beach.

And I couldn’t help but think that there could be worse places to retire. Was Laguna Woods in my future?

Finally, it was time to say goodbye. So following dinner, I would call Grab and head to Los Angeles International Airport. And then I would board a Cathay Pacific Airways flight back to Hong Kong.
