Destination Nara

As Japan’s first capital, Nara is thought of as the birthplace of Japanese culture.
The city is set amid rolling hills and lush forests. And beautifully preserved temples and monuments dot the landscape.
In fact, Nara is home to a UNESCO World Heritage site with 20 historic temples and shrines.
Most importantly, the city is known for the herds of tame deer, which freely roam its streets.
Osaka International Airport is the nearest international airport. In fact, it is roughly 75 kilometers from the city.
Hotel Overview
As the first international luxury property to open in Nara, the JW Marriott Nara is a short distance from Nara Park.
Despite the hotel’s contemporary design, architects and interior designers drew inspiration from Nara’s traditional homes and temples.
For example, the timber beams in the lobby, the linear fireplace, and the fabric wall-hanging all contribute to a distinct sense of place.
And the theme is carried out throughout the hotel. In fact, it extends from the guest rooms to the food and beverage outlets to the spa and other public spaces.
Accommodation

The hotel has 158 rooms and suites. Their interior design features warm tones of timber, bronze, and leather. And all of these elements reflect the local design aesthetic.
For example, stylized representations of deer antlers are displayed on the walls above beds.
Were deer antlers traditionally mounted above the headboards of local homes?

The hotel has three food and beverage outlets. And each one offers a different menu and a different vibe.
Silk Road Dining serves local and international dishes, featuring fresh ingredients. As an all-day dining restaurant, it is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Flying Stag is the hotel’s lobby lounge and bar. Featuring decadent pastries, it opens for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner.
Hotel Facilities

The hotel has a luxurious Spa by JW. In addition, it has an indoor swimming pool and a 24-hour fitness center.
Most importantly, the Spa offers a full menu of spa treatments. For example, there are massages, facials, and therapy baths.
