Philippine Travelogue: Family Friendly Resort With Great Facilities

Cebu Adventure Part Five

Michael Taylor flies to Cebu on Cebu Pacific Air. At the Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa, he discovers a hotel with the best facilities he has ever seen for families with small children.

No hotel can be all things to all people. Each hotel needs a unique selling point, and the unique selling point at the Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa in the Philippines – in my view – is the amazing array of facilties for children.

Most beach front resorts in Asia have swimming pools, a fitness centre, a beauty salon, and a spa. Many also have tennis courts. Some offer such water sports as scuba diving, snorkeling, jet skiing, paragliding, and windsurfing.

A few have glass bottom boats rides and putting greens.

All of the Above – Plus Some!

Not only does the Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa in Cebu offer all of these.

As a family friendly resort, it also has a full range of activities and facilities for children – and I’m not just talking about the requisit Kiddies Korner with supervised finger painting, play-dough, and puzzles.

In addition to the E-Zone, with a Timezone arcade, billiards, a football table, an air hockey table, and an X-box 360 video console, there are two karoke rooms with songs in several languages.

It gets better …

Indoors, there is a three storey Adventure Zone with three slides – and I DON’T mean the type you find on most playgrounds. These slides should put a lump in your throat.

Indoor, Outdoor Fun!

There is also a baby bungee and a wobbly bridge, among other amusements.I REALLY want to give THIS slide a try. Oh, well. Adults are not allowed.

Outdoors, meanwhile, is Aquaplay, a water playground adjoining the main swimming pool with three straight slides, two curving slides, water canons, a rainbow sprayer, a water bucket – the list goes on.

In addition to the six hole putting green for adults is a 14 hole themed peewee golf course – to be enjoyed by the whole family.

I am truly impressed by the facilities. My only disappointment is that adults aren’t allowed on the larger slide.

I REALLY want to give it a try!!! Maybe when no one is looking?
