Phuket Challenge: the Westin at Siray Bay in Phuket

The next stop on my Phuket Challenge was the Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa Phuket, a destination resort that opened in August 2010.

It is Thailand’s first Westin resort, but not its first Westin hotel. I stayed at a Westin hotel in Bangkok last year.

The Westin is located on Siray Island, which is off Phuket’s eastern coast. A bridge connects it to Phuket proper.

Phuket town, with its fascinating mixture of Sino-Portuguese (or Luso-Chinese) architecture is just an eight minute drive from the hotel. A growing number of restaurants, coffee houses, bars, and pubs as well as boutiques and art galleries are opening in the district.

It takes 45 minutes to get to Phuket International Airport from the Westin. Phi Phi, James Bond, Similan, and Maya islands are all within minutes by boat.

Hotel Facilities

There are 261 guest rooms, suites, and villas. I was housed in a spacious two bedroom villa, which had a private terrace, outdoor sala, and roof garden affording views of the ocean. There was also a private plunge pool. There were walk in closets, two and a half baths, and a wet bar with a full sized refrigerator.

The Westin has six food and beverage outlets, three outdoor pools, a spa, a fitness centre, a Kids Club, a business center, and four meeting rooms. Overlooking Siray Bay, it has direct access to a secluded beach.
