Thailand: Phuket Press Trip, the Last Installment

Travelogue

Michael Taylor and several other Hong Kong based journalists are taken back to Kamala Beach at sunset to do photo shoots, but the sunset fails to impress the way it did the night before. So a stock photo is in order!

As promised the night before, we returned to Kamala Beach so that we could take pictures of the sunset … except, beautiful as it was, it was not quite as spectacular as the previous night.

Not to worry. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres awaited us on the veranda of Joe’s Downstairs, which is perched atop the rocky shores of scenic Kalim Bay.

Serving New World Cuisine, the stylish eatery has an all white interior, an award-winning wine list, and a menu running from appetizers and tapas to grilled dishes and live seafood.

After the sun sank slowly into the Andaman Sea, we moved next door to Da Maurizio Bar Ristorante, where we feasted on contemporary Italian food. With an outstanding wine list, the restaurant has received Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence every years since 2002.

Our three day, two night press trip was coming to an end. After our yummy dinner, we were taken back to our five star resort, where we spent another blissful night, arising early the next morning for another breakfast in our outdoor sala, saying farewell to our hosts and attentive staff, and then going to the airport for a reality check.

Our lives as temporary billionaires had come to an end.
