Sightseeing in Stockholm
Ten thousand years of Swedish history are on display at the Swedish History Museum in Stockholm,  Sweden. Objects  from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages are on  display.
Identified in some travel guides as the Museum of National Antiquities, the Swedish Museum of History has more than 30 rooms focusing on different topics and different periods of Swedish history.
There are artifacts from the earliest Swedish settlements. Historical figures are depicted in bronze relief. There are several small scale replicas of ocean-going vessels.
Highlights include works of religious art from the Middle Age – stained glass windows, wooden crucifixes, golden chalices, sculptured altars, the list goes on.
Not surprisingly, the Viking Age is in the spotlight, with rune stones, weapons, and ornamental age.
A rich collection of gold and silver objects is on display in the dimly lit basement.
