Koh Samui Travelogue Part 5
Michael Taylor’s Koh Samui adventure has ended in real time, but it continues in CyberSpace. Today he reminisces about those cocktails he enjoyed at his hotel, Hansar Samui , and in nearby Fisherman’s Village .
Last – Next
I downed a couple of yummy mai tais at the beachfront bar at Hansar Samui , a five star resort on Bophut Beach on Koh Samui, an island located in Southern Thailand.
I also had two of the best mojitos of my life at the Mexican Restaurant, which is located a short walk from the hotel in Fisherman’s Village , a former Sino-Thai fishing that has evolved into one of Koh Samui’s top tourist attractions.
If only I could make cocktails like that at home! And why not?
On my next trip to Koh Samui, I might just return home with more than a tan!
Cocktail Classes
Hansar Samui has launched cocktail classes to complement its Thai cooking classes, and what a perfect way to end the day!
Classes begin with a welcome cocktail to get guests into the mood. A 90 minute cocktail class follows, giving partiicipants a chance to get “hands on” behind the bar.
They learn how to make two different types of cocktails as well as some bar skills and tricks. At the end of the class, they get to wash down some mouth-watering canapés with thir yummy creations.
They receive a certificate, a souvenir, and a final farewell drink – just in time for dinner or a relaxing massage.
Chilling Out
The new cocktail classes are held at the hotel’s beachfront upstairs Chill Lounge on Sundays, Mondays, and Fridays from 3.00 to 4.30 pm.
They are priced at THB 1640 (US$53 per person) or THB2,800 per couple (US$90) plus applicable service charge and government taxes.

I wish I could enjoy the drinks with you! They sound delicious!!
They were, Erik! But I was disappointed that the Mexican Restaurant didn’t serve tortilla chips with the mojitos! I love mojitos, and theirs were excellent!
