The Minnesota Vikings are an American football team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Vikings play at U.S. Bank Stadium. It is located in the Downtown East section of Minneapolis.

The Vikings joined the National Football League (NFL) as an expansion team in 1960. They took to the field the following year. Their new fixed roof stadium opened in 2016.

While their stadium seats 66,655 football fans, it is expandable to 70,000 seats for other events.

The Minnesota Vikings play in the North division of the NFL’s National Football Conference (NFC).

Purple People Eaters

Sometimes referred to as the Purple People Eaters, the Vikes won the NFL championship in 1969. In addition, they won the NFC championship in 1973, 1974, and 1976,

While the Vikings have made it to the Super Bowl four times, they have yet to win an NFL championship.

There is also no shortage of sports bars in the Twin Cities and other communities in Minnesota.

Meanwhile, a former Vikings great had even opened a sports bar in suburban Twin Harbors. Unfortunately, the bar has gone out of business.

You will find Vikings friendly sports bars all over the country. There are even a few north of the border in Canada.

Two short lists of the best bars follow.  First is a list for sports bars in Minnesota. After that comes a  list for sports bars in other parts of the country.

Here are 39 spots where you can root for the Vikes!

  1. Flannery’s downtown Milwaukee has there back bar set up for Vikings games. Today was my 1st time attending and was pleasantly surprised. Bar was full of dedicated Viking fans about 40 in total. This is a good turnout as it’s mostly Packer and Bear fans here. Found my new spot for Sunday’s

      1. The Downtowner in Ft. Lauderdale has its own Purple section with purple beer at halftime. As Prez of the Miami Vikes Fanclub we welcome you.

  2. I feel for you, sir. Apparently you have never been to see the Nashville Norsemen at Wilhagan’s of Nashville. I challenge you to find a better Vikings bar anywhere. We’ve been meeting there for almost 30 years. We usually have 100-150 people, sometimes more. We sing the fight song every time the Vikings score. We have our own Skol Chant Drum. The staff is friendly, the food delicious and best it’s all purple, not even a Titans game to be found anywhere. We have people from MN, OH, ND and elsewhere who plan there vacations around coming through Nashville for a game watch party with us. The owners know us and even tailgate with us when the Vikings come to town. (We had 4000 at the last tailgate.) And if you saw the NFL Draft you know we dominated the event even getting compliments from the Vikings and being asked by other team owners how we pulled it off. Nashville is Vikings Country. Come and see for yourself.

  7. Enjoyed watching the Vikings game yesterday at Wilhagan’s. Being from Mpls and wondering where to watch the game was a big concern. Lucky for us, we did our research after going to a sports bar in downtown Nashville and being disappointed. Made it to Wilhagan’s by second half! Great atmosphere, friendly people, and great crowd. Tony the leader is great!
