Travelogue: Boutique Resort in Seminyak Has 6 Villas, Each with a Different Theme

Balinese Adventure Part 16

Michael Taylor spends 2 nights in at an exclusive resort in the heart of Seminyak with 6 one to 3 bedroom villas, each with a different theme. If the hotel has a unique selling point (USP), it would have to be the yummy cuisine.

Four on Drupadi is a collection of 6 villas built around a tropically landscaped garden, which can be used for staging various types of events – wedding ceremonies, product launches, cocktail parties, you name it.

With from one to 3 bedrooms, each villa has a distinctive character all its own. Themes run from Balinese to Indian to Art Deco. There is also a day spa and a gym – but no food and beverage outlet.

Location

Four on Drupadi is located on relatively quiet street within a short walk of trendy Jalan Laksmana, Bali’s answer to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.

A place to see and be seen, this is where you will find some of Bali’s most stylish boutiques and a wide variety of food and beverage outlets representing nations around the world.

There is even one of the island’s best international supermarkets!

Kuta Beach, with its dramatic sunsets, and Ku De Ta can be reached by car in 5 minutes

Accommodation

Each one of the 6 villas has a different theme, which is named after ‘love’ in the language of its respective cultural theme: Yuubi (Japanese), Pyaar (Indian), Amore (European), Cinta (Balinese), Damou (New Orleans), and Oaini (Chinese), the latest addition to the portfolio.

The villas have from 1 to 3 bedrooms. Most of them have kitchens, so meals can be prepared in front of you.

I spend 2 nights in Villa Damou, a spacious one bedroom villa situated atop the spa. The living room has dining and sitting areas.

The bedroom has a 4 poster bed with mosquito nets, an open concept bathroom with a rain shower, and – most important to me as a writer – a comfortable work station.

There is a spacious 25-metre terrace with a plunge dip, which can be directly accessed from the bedroom. Too bad I didn’t get to use it! It rained on and off during my 2 night stay – the only rainy days during my 30 day stay in Bali.

Food and Beverage

If this property has a Unique Selling Proposition, it would have to be the food. I have breakfast in my villa both mornings as well as one lunch and one dinner, venturing into the neighborhood to try eateries off site for two meals.

I must say, the food at Four on Drupadi is outstanding, and the presentation is very innovative.

Most guests dine in their villas. Otherwise they dine out. There is no food and beverage outlet open to the public at the resort, which gives it a sense of exclusivity.

Menus reflect the themes of the respective villa. The Japanese villa, for example, has a teppanyaki grill, the Indian villas has a tandoori oven, and the Balinese villa has a a satay corner.
