Elvis Presley Slept Here

Elvis Presley spent nearly two weeks staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in 1961 while filming Blue Hawaii, arriving in Honolulu on March 25.
The King of Rock stayed in a spacious top-floor suite in the Ali‘i Tower, large enough to accommodate his entourage and offering sweeping views of Waikiki Beach.
When not on shoots, Elvis relaxed poolside, went boating, browsed local shops, and attended Polynesian performances at the hotel’s Tapa Showroom.
That same suite still exists today and can be booked by guests—complete with themed touches, including Elvis’s famously indulgent peanut butter, banana, and bacon sandwich.

Blue Hawaii – the Cocktail

Did you know that the Blue Hawaii cocktail was invented by a bartender working at the Hilton Hawaiian Village?
And that it actually predated the filming of the eponymous movie, Blue Hawaii, by about four years?
In fact, Dutch distiller Bois, which had recently launched a new liquor called Blue Curaçao, asked a bartender at the hotel – Harry Yee – if he could create a cocktail incorporating the liquor into its recipe.
Working at the hotel’s bar, Harry – already celebrated for his flair at concocting tropical tipples – blended rum, pineapple juice, sweet-and-sour mix, and a splash of Blue Curaçao.
The result? A cocktail as vivid and breezy as the O’ahu itself—forever linked to the spirit of Hawai‘i.

What Makes It Special
Located on the western edge of Waikīkī Beach, Hilton Hawaiian Village offers a wider and quieter stretch of sand with easy access to nearby attractions such as the Ala Moana Center shopping mall and Ala Moana Beach Park, which is less touristy than Waikiki and more popular with locals.
Spend an afternoon at Ala Moana Center, where luxury boutiques and island-inspired fashion await. Just across the way, Ala Moana Beach Park offers a more local, laid-back vibe—perfect for a picnic or a sunset stroll.
However, with its own shops, restaurants, and entertainment, the Hilton Hawaiian Village feels more like a self-contained destination, where it hardly seems necessary to leave the property.
As night falls, the resort itself comes alive. From beachfront cocktails and live Hawaiian music to fire-dancer performances and evening luaus, Hilton Hawaiian Village delivers unforgettable experiences without ever leaving the property.
