Boutique hotel comprising 35 suites housed in several courtyard homes opens in Yunnan province. It has sumptuous facilities and sweeping views of Lijiang Old Town and the surrounding countryside.

Aman Resorts has opened its 3rd hotel in China, Amandayan, a boutique property overlooking the UNESCO protected town of Lijiang in Yunnan province.

Thanks to its idyllic surroundings and heritage architecture, Lijiang was long favoured by backpackers. In recent years, a growing number of stylish resorts have started to dot the landscape. The Amandayan is the latest resort to join the exclusive club.

Comprising several traditional courtyard homes , each with 5 to 8 suites, the hotel has 35 suites in all, which have been beautifully restored and thoughtfully upgraded with all the latest mod-coms.

The suites are decorated with local materials and fabrics. The floors are made of stone. The furniture is crafted from locally sourced elem.

Each suite has a terrace affording sweeping view of Lijiang and the surrounding mountains and countryside.

Origingally used as an examination hall, the Wenchang Palace has been carefully preserved and takes pride of place within the complex.

Food and beverage outlets serve Asian and Western cuisine, with as much of the produce as possible locally sourced. There is both indoor and outdoor seating.

There is a spa with 6 treatment rooms, a 20 metre outdoor swimming pool, which is heated throughout the year, a pilates and yoga studio, a fitness centre, a library, meeting rooms, and a private cinema.

Aman has 2 other properties in China: the Aman at Summer Palace in Beijing and the Manfayun in Hangzhou.
