Airlines + Aviation
I don’t like early morning departures, so United Airlines’ 10.15 am departure from Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok International Airport for Tokyo’s Narita International Airport suited me just fine.
I arrived at the airport early because for me, one of the things I like best about flying Business Class is relaxing in the Business Class Lounge before departure.
Open to passengers holding United Global First or BusinessFirst tickets as well as United Club members and Star Alliance Gold card holders, the United Airlines Club Lounge at Hong Kong International Airport offers complimentary bar service, light snacks, free Wi-Fi, conference rooms, and work stations, among others services.
In my experience, Business Class Lounges in Hong Kong are a cut above those at most of the other airports I’ve flown to, and the United Club lounge at Chek Lap Kok was no exception. There was a wide variety of food and beverage choices on offer.
I had been planning on having breakfast at the airport, but what caught my attention were the hot dogs – even though it was 9 o’clock in the morning. I fixed myself a hot dog, sat down, took a bite, and was seized with an overwhelming sense of homesickness.
“I want to go home,” I thought to myself.
If only this flight had been headed for San Francisco rather than Tokyo!
