Hong Kong: 5 Star Hotel Celebrates US$30 Million Renovation with Opulent Opening Party

The Langham Hong Kong celebrates its US$30 million renovation with a lavish party attended by models, celebrities, business tycoons, entrepreneurs, and journalists. A first hand account and my verdict …

There were fashion models, a former Miss Hong Kong, business tycoons, entrepreneurs, and socialites counted among the 200 guests attending a Grand Opening Party to celebrate the hotel’s US$30 million facelift.

Yummy canapés and pastries were created by Executive Pastry Chef Reinhard Lackner and served by glamourous fashion models. The mouth-watering fried prawns were particularly delicious.

There was a free-flow of champagne and wine. Cocktails were mixed by Bar Manager Rajendra “Rush” Limbu. Background music added to the buzz.

Held on Friday 12 November 2014 at The Langham Hong Kong, the star-studded event was held to celebrate the renovation of 230 of the hotel’s 498 rooms, the refurbishment of the hotel’s lobby lounge, The Palm Court, which serves afternoon tea, and the introduction of an award-winning bar concept from London called Artesian.

Who’s Who in Hong Kong

The guest list read like a Who’s Who of Hong Kong society. A-list celebrities included top-model Ana Rivera, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew and Lumen Kinoshita, Charles Yang, former Miss Hong Kong Winnie Wong, and Hong Kong socialite Sue Lynn Hwa.

There were also food critics, magazine editors, travel writers, public relations professionals, lifestyle bloggers, and various other journalists in attendence.

Among the hotel’s food and beverage outlets is a 2 Michelin star Chinese restaurant. There is also a roof-top swimming pool, a spa, a fitness centre, and other facilities.
