How to Keep Fit: In Room Fitness in Bangkok

westin-in-room-fitness-31-300x239.jpg If you are like me, you are often disappointed by the fitness centres you find at hotels when you are on the road.

Even some of the fitness centres at five star hotels can prove seriously lacking. No expense is spared when it comes to the spa, the the F&B outlets, or the lobby.

Even the swimming pools and the gardens they are set in can be drop dead gorgeous. But the fitness centres – despite the current popularity of keeping fit – are often little more than an afterthought. Adding insult to injury, some hotels actually charge guests for using fitness centres!

In a bid to differentiate itself from the competition, Westin decided to give fitness a second look As a result, it has upgraded its fitness centres with state of the art equipment. The cardio vascular stations even have personal entertainment systems.

In Room Fitness Equipment

An example is the Westin Grande Sukhumvit in Bangkok, which has two guest rooms specially equipped with fitness equipment. One has a stationary bicycle, the other a treadmill.

There is also a fitness shelf that holds adjustable dumbbells, resistance tubing, a stability ball, yoga mat, and other workout equipment. A fitness library by Rodale Press has several fitness oriented books and magazines and a running map of Bangkok.

"We know that two-thirds of travelers want to work out while on the road, yet most of them don't make it to the gym," says Sue Brush, senior vice president for Westin.

"With WestinWORKOUT Rooms, hotel guests are now able to fit their regular cardio, strength training, or exercise routines into their hectic travel schedules with the added luxury of a private workout at any time."

No more excuses for not working out because the fitness centre at your hotel was already closed by the time you got back. Besides, even if you are not booked into one of the hotel's fitness rooms, its fitness centre offers 24 hour access!
