Niseko Village in the Northern Japanese island of Hokkaido has been voted the number one ski resort in Japan by Snow Japan.

Ski enthusiasts around the world voted in the competition, confirming Niseko Village’s status as one of the world’s most popular ski destinations.

“Niseko Village has long enjoyed the reputation for being one of the best ski resorts in the world and this award not only bears testament to this, but also cements Hilton Niseko Village’s place as a top resort choice for ski enthusiasts who wish to experience Japan’s best ski slopes right at their doorstep,” says Darryl Marsden, general manager at the Hilton Niseko Village hotel.

Niseko Village is one of four ski areas that comprise the Niseko United Ski Area. Located at the foot of the Niseko Annupuri Mountain, the area is noted for the fine quality of its powder.

Niseko All Mounain Lift Tickets give access to Niseko Village, Annapuri, Hannazono, and Grand Hiratfu. A fifth ski area called Maiwa is less popular and is not included in the scheme.

Niseko  United is a year round resort, offering  snow sports in winter and warm weather sports – such as golf, hiking, horseback riding, and fishing – in summer.

Accommodation options run from full services hotels and ski resorts to guest houses, backpacker’s hostels, lodges, bed and breakfasts, ski chalets – the list goes on.

There are also numerous food and breakfast outlets , shops, boutiques, and entertainment venues. The area has the best nightlife of any ski area in Japan. English is also more widely spoken than at other Japanese ski areas.
