Thailand in April – a good time to visit? The weather in Thailand in April is very hot. In fact, April is the hottest month of the year. However, if you like a good water fight, April in Thailand can be a lot of fun because not only is the climate in Thailand in April very hot. Songkran, also known as the Water Festival (or the Thai New Year), takes place in April, turning cities and towns into one great big water fight!

How is the weather in Thailand in April? April is the hottest month of the year in Thailand. The average daily high in Bangkok is 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit). The average nightly low is 26 degrees Celsius (79 degrees Fahrenheit).

The climate in Thailand in April can also be very rainy.  In Bangkok, there is a 32% chance of rain on any given day, which makes it much rainier than March.

But April is not the wettest month of the year. The rainy season runs from May or June to October.

However, since April is the off season in Thailand, you might be able to score discounts on hotels.


Full Moon Party – 2 April 2026

The Full Moon Party is held on the beach of Haad Rin every month on the night of the full moon.

DJs play a variety of musical styles including trance, dubstep, reggae, and techno. Jugglers, fire-eaters, and fireworks add drama to the all-night event.

Note: dates may be adjusted if they conflict with other holidays or festivals.

Haad Rin is crescent shaped beach located on the island of Ko Pha Ngan. It can be reached by boat from Koh Samui, an island off the coast of Southern Thailand.

 


Chakri Memorial Day – 6 April 2026

Chakri  Memorial Day celebrates the establishment of the Chakri Dynasty in 1782. It is officially known as “King Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke the Great Day and Chakri Dynasty Memorial Day”.

Religious celebrations are held at the royal chapel, where the King of Thailand and other members of the royal family pay tribute to their predecessors at the Royal Pantheon. They also lay a wreath to the statue of King Rama I at the Memorial Bridge.

Government offices, schools, and banks close, but most other businesses open as usual on this day. To clarify, Royal Thai Police, Tourist Police stations, hospitals, and shopping centres remain open.

While sales are banned on many holidays in Thailand, they are permitted by Chakri Memorial Day.

Popular musicians will perform at the Sunset Beach Music Festival, with a focus on reggae at Thailand’s biggest  Reggae Ska Music Festival. 

The Sunset Beach Music Festival is held at Sunset Beach Estate, Najomtien, Sattahip District, Chon Buri, which is around 10 to 15 kilometers south of Pattaya.
