Thailand: My Seaview Room at the Hansar Samui in Koh Samui

Koh Samui Travelogue Part 3

Michael Taylor spent three nights at the Hansar Samui , a five star resort on the Southern Thai island of Koh Samui. It is located on Bophut Beach and adjoins Fisherman’s Village , one of the island’s top tourist destinations.

Hansar Samui has three different room categories. I stayed in room 1314, a seaview room with a view of the garden, the swimming pool, and Bophut Beach.

My room measured 54 square meters. It was stylishly furnished in what I would describe as tropical modern. Earth tones contrasted with the pale off white walls.

What Sets It Apart

If anything set my room apart from other hotel rooms that I have stayed in recently it was the size of the shower in the bathroom. It was MASSIVE!!!

I particularly liked the textured chocolate brown tiles on the foor and one of the walls of the shower.

Towels were hung from the rungs of a wooden ladder leaning against the wall. There was an alcove to put your stuff.

The pedestal like sink, meanwhile, matched the bar stools at the open air bar in the garden below.

Favourite Feature

The room also had a very large balcony, which was enclosed on three sides, giving it the feel of an outdoor sitting room.

There was an overhead ceiling fan, a very comfortable rocking chair, a coffee table, and a wooden rack to let clothes dry on.

Best of all, there was a day bed with a couple of cushions on it.

I took a glass of wine out onto the balcony on my second night. As I rocked in my rocking chair, I eyed the day bed. It was a balmy night – just the right temperature.

I couldn’t help but think that it would be a great spot to spend the night.

I put my half drunken glass of wine down on the coffee table. I moved to the day bed and lay down. I awoke at dawn the next morning to the chirping of birds. My wine glass wasn’t half empty. It was half full.

What Needs Improvement

No room is perfect, and this one was no exception. I would have liked more counter space in the bathroom and more shelves and/or drawers in the closet.
