Where to Watch the Houston Texans

If you can’t make it to the game to the stadium to root for the Houston Texans in person, here are 20 of the best Houston Texans bars in Houston, around Texas, and across the nation. Some are bona-fide fan hangouts. Others attract Texan fans on game day.

THIS POST HAS BEEN UPDATED FOR THE 2021 NFL SEASON!

History of Professional Football in Texas

First, there were the Dallas Texans. However, the Texans moved to Kansas City, Missouri, and became known as the Kansas City Chiefs.

Then there were the Houston Oilers. Unfortunately. After the football team moved to Nashville, Tennessee, they became the Tennessee Oilers. Because there isn’t much oil in Tennessee, they were re-named the Tennessee Titans.

When Houston, Texas, was granted an expansion franchise in the National Football League, logically the team should have been called the Houston Oilers. However, that wasn’t possible because the name Oilers still belonged to Bud Adams, owner of the Tennessee Titans

Following an online survey, the owners decided to name the team the Houston Texans. However, the team  should not be confused with the Dallas Texans!

Remember? The Dallas Texans moved to Kansas City. Meanwhile, Dallas got another franchise. And the city christened the team the Dallas Cowboys . . .

All of which sort of drives me crazy. I think that if a franchise moves cities, the team’s name, mascot, colours, and legacy should remain with the city.

The team should create an entirely new identity in the team’s new home.

Whatever . . .

The Houston Texans won the NFL American Football Conference South in 2011 and again in 2012. Not only that, the team is now clearly on a roll. They won the NFL championship in 2018. Can they make it to the Super Bowl this NFL season?
