Miami Dolphins Team History
The Miami Dolphins compete in the East division of the American Football Conference (AFC) of the National Football League (NFL).
To begin with, the Dolphins joined the American Football League (AFL) in 1966. AnNd the AFL and the NFL merged in 1970.
The Dolphins made their first trip to the Super Bowl in 1972. Unfortunately, they lost to the Dallas Cowboys by a score of 24 to 3. In fact, they didn’t even score one touchdown.
However, the following year, the Dolphins were the first team in NFL history to complete a perfect season. Not only that, they went on to win the Super Bow!
In addition, the Dolphins made their third Super Bowl appearance the following year.
Don Shula coached the Miami Dolphins from 1970 through 1995.
Known as the most successful head coach in NFL history, Coach Don led the Dolphins to 24 winning seasons during the 26 seasons that he coached the team. And the Miami Dolphins have appeared in the Super Bowl five times. In fact, they won the NFL championship in 1972 and 1973.
To clarify, the Miami Dolphins have one of pro-football’s most impressive records. In fact, they have appeared in the NFL playoffs 23 times. And they have won the AFC East championship 13 times.
