Eight American airlines have filed for permission to fly from cities in the United States to travel destinations in Cuba following an agreement reached in February to re-establish scheduled air links between the two countries.
Under a new agreement 20 flights a day will be allowed to link US cities with Havana, the Cuban capital. Up to 10 flights will also be allowed for flights linking the US with 9 other cities with international airports.
Scheduled air links between the United States and Cuba were stopped following the Communist Revolution in 1959. Following an agreement reached in February 2016, the first regularly scheduled flights in five decades will be resumed.
US Airlines will be allowed 110 flights between the United States and Cuba each day, but only 20 of them can be to Havana. Is it because of the airport’s small size?
