The year 2021 is the second year of the Chinese Zodiac and the fourth element of the five elements.  To clarify, it is the Year of the Metal Ox.

Sometimes, the Year of the Ox is  called the Year of the Bull. Less often, people call it the Year of the Cow.

Years of the Ox

People born in the following years belong to the Year of the Ox. However, they must have been born on or after Chinese New Year.

If they were born before Chinese New Year, they would belong to the Year of the Rat. In other words, the Year of the Rat precedes the Year of the Ox.

Similarly, if they were born before Chinese New Year in the following year, they would still belong to the Oxen Year.

This is because the Chinese and Western calendars run on different cycles. Therefore, they do not entirely overlap.
