Thailand
Michael Taylor’s 2 night stay at Paresa, an exclusive 5 star resort on Phuket’s Millionaire’s Mile, includes a kickboxing lesson in the hotel’s well-equipped gym.
As planned, I did laps in Paresa’s beautiful infinity swimming pool for an hour. Then I headed to my room to work on my blog. Skipping lunch, I returned to the fitness centre, where Khun Nan was waiting.
He started by bandaging my hands. Then we donned our gloves. Then our lesson began.
Khun Nan refreshed my memory, running through the basic moves of muay Thai, or Thai kick boxing: jabs and punches, front kicks, side kicks, and knee kicks, as well as defensive moves with both the arms and legs.
Kamala
Following my kick boxing lesson, I took a taxi into the town of Kamala, which I explored on foot. I had a relaxing massage, which was followed by a cup of coffee at a charming coffee house. Then I had dinner at a Thai restaurant.
The first full day of my Phuket Challenge was coming to an end. I weighed myself at the fitness centre the following morning. So far so good.
