Thailand in June: a good time to visit ? There’s a sacred festival, a royal holiday, symphonies, a marathon, a jazz festival, and more. When does the monthly Full Moon Party fall in Koh Phangan? And how is the Weather? Is it sunnier in Phuket or Koh Samui?
Because of the pandemic, the situation in Thailand remains fluid. Therefore, it is difficult to ascertain whether events will go ahead in 2022. I’ve listed the events usually scheduled to take place in May with the note “2022 date pending”. In fact, many of these events will be either canceled or postponed.

Inthakin – City Pillar Festival, Chiang Mai – 2 to 10 June 2019

The Inthakin City Pillar Festival is held in Chiang Mai to celebrate city’s grand pillar.
The annual festival starts on the 12th day of the waning moon of the sixth lunar month. It continues for eight days. The festivities usually begin each morning at 8 am.
Offerings are made, increase is burned, and candles are lit on the first day of the festival.
Other activities include dancing, musical performances, and games, There is also lots of yummy Thai dishes to feast on.
Monks pray at the temple in the morning. Processions around the city’s moat follow. Celebrations continue after dark.
The festival is also known as the Lak Mueang Festival, Sai Khan Dok, or Bucha Sao Inthakhin. It is the most important festival in Thailand in June.

Samui Summer Jazz – 7 to 12 June 2022
he 6-night programme for this year’s sounds of ‘Samui Summer Jazz 2022’ music festival has been announced featuring a superb line-up of international jazz and World music artists from the Netherlands, USA and Thailand performing at some of the island’s leading 5-star resorts and clubs.
The festival returns to Koh Samui after an 8-year hiatus and is presented by SKÅL International Koh Samui and sponsored by Imagine Samui in collaboration with SOS [Sisters on Samui] foundation.
‘Samui Summer Jazz 2022’ is part of the SKÅL International Thailand #ReDiscoverThailand tourism recovery campaign and specifically the #ReDiscoverSamui promotional initiative to support the return of tourism to the island.
Organized in collaboration with the Amersfoort Jazz Festival (Netherlands) and linked to JAZZNL of the Netherlands and the WORLD JAZZ NETWORK, the concerts will be held over 6 nights at the following venues, and include cocktails or cocktails and dinner depending on the venue.
Chedi Luang Temple

Most of the festivities take place in and around Chedi Luang Temple. It is known as Wat Chedi Luang in Thai. Wat is Thai for temple.
The temple dates back to the 14th century. It was relocated to its present location in 1800. It was reconstructed in the 1990s. The temple is one of the many Buddhist temples in Chiang Mai.

Chiang Mai is 364 miles (586 kilometres) north-northwest of Bangkok. The drive takes close to nine hours. The flight takes roughly 70 minutes.
Nok Air flies from Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport to Chiang Mai International Airport seven times daily. The airline flies to the city from Udon Thani three times daily.

Queen Suthida’s Birthday – 8 August 2022

His Majesty Maha Vajiralongkorn married his royal consort, General Suthida Vajiralongkorn Na Ayudhya, in Bangkok on 1 May.
The king’s wife has received the title of Queen Suthida. Her birthday is 3 June. It has been declared a national holiday in Thailand.
Full Moon Party – 14 June 2022

The Full Moon Party is held on the beach of Haad Rin every month on the night of the full moon.
DJs play a variety of musical styles including trance, dubstep, reggae, and techno. Jugglers, fire-eaters, and fireworks add drama to the all-night event.
Haad Rin is crescent shaped beach located on the island of Ko Pha Ngan. It can be reached by boat from Koh Samui, an island off the coast of Southern Thailand.
Koh Samui is 293 miles (471 kilometres) south of Bangkok. Because the drive takes nearly 10 hours, air travel is recommended,. The flight takes just over one hour.
Hua Hin Jazz Festival – 7 to 8 June 2019

Local and international musicians will perform on two stages at the 15th annual Hua Hin Jazz Festival. It is the most important musical event in Thailand in June.
The main stage is located on the beach near the Centara Grand Beach Resort. And this is where the headlining acts will perform.
The open stage is located on the same street as the Hua Hin Night Bazaar. And this is where newcomers will perform.
Most of the hotels located along the beach will serve food and drink during musical performances.
Performances will begin at 5 pm and continue until 11 pm both nights. There is no admission charge.
Hua Hin is about 120 miles (190 kilometres) south-southwest of Bangkok. The drive takes about two and one-half to three hours.
Modern Melodists – 7 to 8 June 2019

The Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra will perform the Nordic melodies of Sibelius in a lyrically-inspired concert called Modern Melodists.
The programme will include music by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, violin concerto in D minor by Jean Sibelius, and Symphony No. 3 in A minor (op. 44) by Sergei Rachmaninoff.
Chinese Maestro Daye Lin will be the conductor. British violinist Jack Liebeck will play the violin.

Laguna Phuket Marathon – 8 to 9 June 2019
More than 13,000 sports enthusiasts are expected to compete in the 14th annual Laguna Phuket Marathon. It is the Southern Thai island’s largest participatory event.
There will be a two kilometre kids run as well as a five kilometre and a 10.5 kilometre run on Saturday 8 June in the afternoon.
There will be a Half Marathon (21.0975 km), Marathon (42.195 km), and Marathon Relay (42.195 km) on Sunday 9 June in the morning.
Phuket is about about 425 miles (685 kilometres) south-southwest of Bangkok. Because the drive takes about 10 and one-half hours, other forms of transportation are recommended.
Nok Air flies from Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport to Phuket International Airport (HKT) seven times daily. The flight takes about about 80 minutes.
Symphonic Anime – 21 to 22 June 2019
Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Symphonic Anime, a sequel to Legends and Fantasies.
Symphonic Anime focuses on music from Japanese animation. The concert will feature music from various genres of anime, from Mecha to fantasy adventure.
There will be various musical styles. Included will be choral pieces, classical music, Japanese music, orchestral jazz, and rap.
Thanapol Setabrahmana will be the conductor. In addition, the Choirs of Mahidol University will perform.

Tristan and Zarathustra – 28 to 29 June 2019

The Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Tchaikovsky’s Tristan and Zarathustra.
The programme will also include traditional Thai music, a prelude by Richard Wagner, and a piece by Richard Strauss.
Alexey Stadler of Russia will play the cello. Ligia Amadito of Brazil will be the conductor.

Weather in Thailand in June
What is the weather like in Thailand in June? Because of high humidity, overcast skies, and lots of rain, June is considered wet season in Thailand. The Southwestern monsoon blows in from the Indian Ocean.
As a result, the weather tends to be hot, humid, and cloudy. It rains most days during this period. However, it is not as hot as during March, April, and May.
There are, of course, some regional differences in the weather. The Southern Thai islands of Phuket and Koh Samui, for example, experience very different types of weather in June.
Phuket is a bit cooler but much more humid. And it has less sunshine and considerably more rain. Koh Samui, meanwhile, is hotter, sunnier, and less humid. Moreover, the island also has much less rain than its neighbour to the East.

Chiang Mai Weather in June
Chiang Mai is located in the mountains of Northern Thailand.
Chiang Mai has an average high of 33 degrees Celsius, or 91 degrees Fahrenheit, in June. The average low drops to 24 degrees Celsius, or 75 degrees Fahrenheit. June is slightly cooler than May.
Chiang Mai has a daily average of six hours of sunshine in June. There are about 18 rainy days and an average of 130 millimetres of rain during the month. Although it is a rainy month, it gets less rainfall than May, July, August, or September. The average humidity is 75%.
Hua Hin Weather in June
Hua Hin is a popular beach resort in Central Thailand. It overlooks the Gulf of Thailand. Because it is a three hours’ drive from Bangkok, it is particularly popular with Bangkokians.
Hua Hin has an average high of 33 degrees Celsius, or 91 degrees Fahrenheit, in June. The average low drops to 26 degrees Celsius, or 79 degrees Fahrenheit. June is slightly cooler than May.
Hua Hin has a daily average of seven hours of sunshine in June. There are about 10 rainy days and an average of 80 millimetres of rain during the month. And the average humidity is a stuffy 80%.
Koh Samui Weather in June
Koh Samui is a popular beach resort in Southern Thailand. It is located off the coast of the mainland in the Gulf of Thailand.
Koh Samui has an average high of 34 degrees Celsius, or 93 degrees Fahrenheit, in June. The average low drops to 25 degrees Celsius, or 77 degrees Fahrenheit. June is slightly cooler than May.
Koh Samui enjoys a daily average of nine hours of sunshine in March. There are about five rainy days and an average of 50 millimetres of rain during the month. The average humidity is a mild 70%.
Because of mostly sunny skies and little rainfall, Koh Samui is a popular destination for beach-goers in June.
Phuket Weather in June
Phuket is Thailand largest island. It is also the country’s most popular beach resort. It is located off the shore of the mainland in the Andaman Sea.
Phuket has an average high of 32 degrees Celsius, or 90 degrees Fahrenheit, in June. The average low drops to 25 degrees Celsius, or 77 degrees Fahrenheit. June is slightly cooler than May.
Phuket has a daily average of seven hours of sunshine in June. There are about 18 rainy days. An average of 240 millimetres of rain falls in the month. The average humidity is 85%.
Because of the frequent rain, many beach-goers avoid Phuket in June. However, hotels often offer discounts this month, making the island a good choice for bargain-hunters.
