Bangkok is a cosmopolitan city with a dynamic food and beverage scene. There are several Mexican restaurants scattered about the Thai capital, serving everything from Tex-Mex to Mexico City street food. Here is a short-list of the Big Mango’s top cantinas and taquerias.

Cinco de Mayo is just around the corner – this coming Saturday, to be precise, and Mexican restaurants throughout Bangkok, Thailand, have special promotions planned.

You can expect special menus, free shots, discounted drinks, DJs spinning discs, and lots of cocktails.

A few of the eateries will even have pinadas – with surprise gifts inside.

Latin Fiestas

A couple of Mexican eateries in the Big Mango even have full-fledged fiestas planned, and one of the biggest fiestas will be for members only.

What’s interesting is that Cinco de Mayo, which means’ “May Fifth” in Spanish, is much more popular in the United States than in Mexico, where it is celebrated in only one state: Puebla.

Where to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Bangkok, Thailand

Here is a short-list of Bangkok’s best Mexican restaurants and what they have planned for Cinco de Mayo 2018!

Touche Hombre will celebrate Cinco de Mayo from 7 pm until late with Mexican street food, signature cocktails, and cool rhythms.

Mexican street food will include such mouthwatering dishes as Soft Shell Crab Cangrejo, Tuna Tostadas, Tacos, and Australian Wagyu Rump Steak Asada.

These yummy bites will be washed down with signature Tequila and Mezcal cocktails like Chingon, Last Train to Oaxaca, and Los Cocos Locos.

There will be a special promotion for the restaurant’s most popular Margarita, the Margarita Del Tommy, which will include mini tacos on the house all night.

DJ Aopsher will spin the discs from 9.30 pm until late with his set of hip-hop to R&B sounds, which will set the mood.

The evening will end with a Pinata, which will contain more than just candy for the kids!

Casa Azul will celebrate Cinco de Mayo by serving a variety of nine special homemade tacos, one order of chicken wings, and jug of margarita or beer – all for 1,200 baht.

For Cinco De Mayo, Mexicano Restaurante Autentico will have a party with its Latin band followed by a DJ. There will also be food and drink stations.

The restaurant was formerly known as Senor Pico.

La Fiesta Monita del Cinco de Mayo will be held from 5 pm until late for members only.

Drinks will be discounted and there will be free shots every hour from 7 until  10 pm for first 50 guests.

There will be tacos like those in the markets of Mexico,  American style BBQ from Billy’s Smokehouse, and  guest chef Chalee Kader from 100 Mahaseth.

The area outside of the restaurant will be turn into a Mexican market for foodies and families while at night turned into playground for fiesta- goers.

There will be BBQ grills, lots of freebies, special food items, and lots of booze at discounted prices.

A guest DJ will spin Latin mixes to guarantee the night won’t end easy.

When all else fails, there is always Sunrise Tacos! Established in 2008, Sunrise Tacos is Bangkok’s oldest Mexican restaurant chain, and it now has 10 food-and-beverage outlets scattered about the city.

They are located on busy streets and in shopping malls. There is even one at Suvarnabhumi International Airport!
