Taste of Hong Kong is an outdoor food festival held every spring on the Central Harbourfront. Held in the shadows of the Hong Kong Observation Wheel, it gives foodies a chance to preview dozens of dishes from some of Hong Kong’s top tables from 21 to 24 March 2019.

Now in its fourth year, Taste of Hong Kong gives Hong Kong foodies the chance to sample more than 60 dishes from some of the best restaurants in Hong Kong. Prices per dish start at HK$50.
Two-thirds of the restaurants at this year’s Taste of Hong Kong are taking part in the festival for the first time. Included are the likes of Chom Chom, The Flying Elk, John Anthony, Old Bailey, Francis, Hoi King Heen, Artemis and Apollo, and Sausage Commitment.
In the shadows of the Hong Kong Observation Wheel with the towering high rises of Central as a backdrop, foodies can snack and feast on everything from classic dishes to new Hong Kong menu entrees.
There are also cooking demonstrations, wine workshops, a Gourmet Market, wine bars, cocktail bars, exhibitors, and other attractions.
When you get tired of snacking and feasting, you can stretch out on lounge chairs and pillows and listen to music by some of Hong Kong’s hottest live bands with music curated by some of Hong Kong’s most talented DJs.
Taste of Hong Kong will be held at the Central Waterfront on Hong Kong Island, which will host Art Central from 27 to 31 March 2019.
One of the best aspects of attending a food festival such as this is getting the chance to try something you’ve never tasted before.
At last year’s Taste of Hong Kong, Gourmet Salted Egg Yolk Potato Crisps and Gourmet Salted Egg Yolk Fish Skin Crisps were launched, and I got to try them for the first time.
Soon thereafter, I started seeing them for sale at supermarkets and mini-marts across town. The Singaporean snack has proven to be a big hit in the SAR.
New this year: Chilli Crab Seaweed Tempura and Salted Egg Crab Seaweed Tempura, which were inspired by Singapore’s authentic crab dishes.

Hong Kong Weekend Weather Forecast
The weather is expected to cool off a bit over the weekend, with a 56% chance of rain Friday evening.
There is a 60% chance of thunderstorms on Saturday morning and a 7% chance in the afternoon, but rain is unlikely in the afternoon.
There is a 60% chance of thunderstorms Sunday morning and a 25% chance Sunday afternoon. The chance of rain in the morning is 40%; 25% in the afternoon.
Needless to day, weather conditions can change.
Taste of Hong Kong Schedule
Tasting sessions are divided into lunch and dinner services, each one lasting four or five hours.
There are six sessions in all. Tickets are for one session only unless otherwise noted.
- Thursday 21 March 2019: 6 pm – 10 pm
- Friday 22nd March 2019: 12.30 pm – 4.30 pm and 6 pm – 10 pm
- Saturday 23rd March 2019: 12.30 pm – 4.30 pm and 6 pm – 10 pm
- Sunday 24th March 2019: 12.30 pm- 5.30 pm
Standard entry is HK$150 at the door.
Taste of Hong Kong is a fun concept, but it’s not cheap. You have to pay to get in and then you have to pay more to try things. There’s not much in the way of free samples.

The entrance is within walking distance of the Star Ferry Terminal, near the Hong Kong Observation Wheel.
The Central MTR station and Hong Kong terminus of the Airport Express are the closest train stations if you are planning to attend Taste of Hong Kong..
